Pampas grass white - a decorative element in any garden
Botanically, pampas grass belongs to the family of saplings and is originally native to the temperate and tropical zones of New Zealand and South America. The slender leaves only grow up to 80cm in height, but the striking and decorative panicles can reach a height of up to 200cm. The leaves are greyish-green in colour and very sharp-edged. With its long and summer-green leaves and their overhanging growth, Cortaderia selloana can reach a diameter of more than one metre in the course of time.

The flowering time of the Cortaderia selloana variety is from September to November, which is quite late in the year. But the beautiful white fronds are still an ornament even when dried. However, the fronds of the male plants quickly become unsightly after flowering. That is why male pampas grass is not available in the trade. You will therefore only receive female pampas grass, which produces the extremely impressive white flower panicles.
Cortaderia selloana - suitable for many garden styles
Cortaderia selloana is usually planted as a specimen. The imposing ornamental grass attracts all eyes when planted singly, so that it often finds its place as an eye-catcher by ponds or in the rock garden. The ornamental grass is also suitable as a border plant or for group planting. If you buy pampas grass for group planting, however, you should bear in mind the considerable size of older plants. Pampas grass is a decorative plant that blends harmoniously into many garden styles. It looks particularly good in Japanese and park-like gardens.
