Cup yew Groenland - the all-rounder among hedge plants
The Becher Eibe Groenland is a real all-rounder. Very few garden plants are so undemanding and yet can be used in so many different ways
No matter what form you prefer the yew Groenland in, it always cuts a fine figure. As a hedge plant, its dense and strong growth provides optimal privacy and wind protection. As the so-called Taxus Media Groenland does not shed its needles even in winter, your hedge will remain evergreen even in dreary winter days.
A yew hedge is a real eye-catcher, because the Becher Yew Groenland has a very beautiful needle dress that glows in a rich dark green. This wonderful appearance makes it suitable not only as a yew hedge, but also as a specimen plant. Here it sets hardly any limits to horticultural creativity, as it can be cut into almost any shape. Whether as a cube, sphere or spiral - the Taxus Media Groenland retains its strongly branched and upright growth in any shape.
Contrasting play of colours of the Taxus hedge
When the fruit ripens in February, small red berries shimmer between the lush greenery. However, since the yew Groenland already bears its fruit at the beginning of the year, it does not steal the show from the later flowering plants. On the contrary, with its shimmering dark green, it provides a wonderful backdrop for a wide range of colours. Particularly impressive is the combination with richly flowering rhododendrons, but the lighter green of other conifers also makes a nice contrast.
Yew hedge satisfied with little
When you buy a yew tree, you can be sure that the yew hedge or a solitary yew will not give you a lot of work. The Cup Yew Groenland requires little water and only needs to be pruned once a year. The Taxus Media Groenland is so undemanding that you can even plant it in a pot. The yew tree Groenland can also reach a very old age - the oldest yew tree found is over a thousand years old - so that you can enjoy your yew hedge for a long time.
Suitable for almost any garden
But for what type of garden is the yew Groenland best suited? It is not so easy to give a clear answer here, because its variability of cut means that it fits in just as well in modern and symmetrical gardens as in informal ones, depending on the shape of the cut. For example, you can buy a yew tree for farmhouses, nature gardens, forest gardens or formal gardens. And even for the cemetery, the cup yew Groenland is suitable as a grave planting.
For 1 metre of hedge you need about 5 plants. The plants are grown in pots, so you can use these plants all year round.
