The evergreen Forest Flame, also called Japanese Lavender Heath, is a small bushy shrub with a height of 50 - 75cm. The flowers are brilliantly green, lively and airy on the shoots. The new shoots are bright red, later light red and getting lighter and lighter. The colouring lasts a long time and is beautiful in combination with the white flower panicles that appear in April and May. The striking and long flower panicles of this garden plant are already in bud form from autumn onwards, which gives it a beautiful ornamental value even in winter. Garden plants such as Japanese lavender heather need an acidic to neutral soil and a sunny to semi-shady location.
