Albizia julibrissin, tender flower
Albizia julibrissin 'Rosea' better known as the Persian sleeping tree, is an exotic tree found almost üeverywhere in the world, for example in Africa, Australia, Asia, Südamerica, the Mediterranean and Central Europe. Among the Chinese, the Persian tree is called the Tree of Collective Happiness because it gives joy and comfort, makes the eye shine and the heart come alive. The albizia likes to stand in a sheltered place in full sun. The leaves of the Albizia julibrissin fold up in the evening, hence the nickname sleeping tree. The flowers grow in dense clusters on long stems and are distinguished by the stamens that are up to 3 cm long. In the flowering season, which is in July/August, the silk tree has large light pink flowers and long silky, pinkish-purple stamens. The flowers of the, sometimes, multi-stemmed silk tree 'Rosea' are bright pink. Bees love the beautiful flowers!
Persian Sleeping Tree needs protection in winter
The location of the decorative Albizia julirissin should be protected and sunny. Only few demands are made on the soil, as the plant can withstand drought to a certain extent when old. In harsh winters, however, the frost-sensitive scarf tree should be protected, otherwise it can suffer damage. The sleeping tree grows as a shrub or as a tree that can reach a size of 3 to 8m.
The plants are grown in pots, so you can use them all year round.
