Cherry Laurel Ani ®
This cherry laurel grows very compactly and is therefore also suitable for a narrower hedge. It is also ideal if you have little space in your garden.
Enjoy the beautiful foliage growth of the cherry laurel.
The laurel Ani grows young, new leaves in spring, which are reddish at first. Later they take on a beautiful glossy green. Prunus laurocerasus 'Ani' has white flowers in spring that contrast beautifully with the deep green leaves. After the flowers, red berries appear on the garden plant, which later turn black.
Location & Care of the Cherry Laurel Ani ®
Cherry Laurel Ani ® tolerates pruning well. It is best to prune it directly after flowering, then the shrub will develop optimally. You can cut the cherry laurel with hedge shears without any problems. The rather large leaves will of course be significantly damaged by the hedge trimmer, but the plant will tolerate this. If you prefer, you can also prune the cherry laurel by hand. Just make sure that the tools are well sharpened so that the branches are cut cleanly. Dull shears often bruise, causing more damage to the plant than necessary.
This garden plant can be used as a hedge plant but also as an area planting and has few requirements for the soil type, as long as the soil is water-permeable. You need about 5 plants for 1 metre of hedge. Bay cherries are grown in pots, so you can use these plants all year round.
As this is a new cultivar, this garden plant is protected by law, hence the ® symbol.
