This is because these yews are the only conifers that also sprout again from the old wood.
How to find the best place for your yew in the garden
Taxus baccata do not have any special requirements for the soil: It should be humus and rich in nutrients, well-drained and moist - just like many garden soils. A yew can be pruned all year round. However, the best time to prune is at the end of June/beginning of July. Pruning helps the plant or hedge retain its shape and branch out better, making it even denser. Use sharp hedge shears when pruning. Pruning on a cloudy, cool day prevents the cut branches and needles from burning from the sun.
The plants are grown in pots, so you can use them all year round. For 1 metre of hedge you need about 5 plants.
